What Is YOUR Personal Vision?

October 31, 2011 Comments off

I recently completed a book and exercises with a couple of my client companies on helping them better define what they are and where they are going.  We created or refined a vision and a mission for their companies and did it using a great tool developed by Joe Calhoon in his book – <a href=”http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&bc1=000000&IS2=1&bg1=FFFFFF&fc1=000000&lc1=0000FF&t=d2ventu-20&o=1&p=8&l=as4&m=amazon&f=ifr&ref=ss_til&asins=0470880961“>The 1 Hour Plan for Growth.

While preparing for an initial session, the thought came to me – what is the vision for my life?  Have I visited that subject lately; and am I directing my life in a way to tie to my vision?  Am I using my God-given talents and skills in such a way to make the world a better place?  Am I truly doing what I am passionate about?

After some self-examination, I determined I am in a place I can say yes to those questions.  I can do better, though, and ensure I have self-awareness in making the right decisions to keep me on that vision.  I need to constantly keep in mind: my decisions are not only about what to do, but also about who I am as an individual.

I encounter way too many people life who are absolutely miserable (and most of them would be defined as successful by society’s standards) – because they simply haven’t realized what makes them happy isn’t what they are doing every day.

How am I aligning my personal vision with the vision of the company I keep?
